"temporary" increase in the income tax rate from 5% to 5.75%. The rate is now
5.95%. Since you are paying it, there is no need to bring a gift.
The 10th birthday of the "temporary" tax will be
commemorated!
When: July 13, 1999, between 2:30 and 3 PM.
Where: The foot of the Grand Staircase, near
its 1989 birthplace.
"Let us eat cake!" A birthday cake will be served to the
media.
Governor Cellucci is expected to drop by between 2:45 and 3:00.
Legislators who voted this year to rollback the rate to 5% are also
invited to attend. House members who voted to cut the rate only to 5.75% may have only a
sliver of cake.
The CLT staff will lead in singing "Unhappy birthday."
