Re: Finneran’s Pay-Raise Power-Grab
The
legislative pay-raise/power-grab issue is bad enough. Of all possible
legislative priorities, the House leadership has chosen to put
self-aggrandizement, increasing its own power, at the top of its list.
But now,
add insult to injury. Legislators are to tell their constituents that
the power-grab is OK because the actual pay-raises won’t be given
out until after the next election?
Give this a
guess:
On a scale
of 1-10, how dumb do House leaders think all your constituents are?
(1) being smart enough to see through this as a way for Finneran’s
"staff" to get re-elected no matter how bad/sad the
legislative priorities, (10) being really really really dumb and
likely to remain so until after the election.
If this
power-grab is adopted, CLT, most likely with the help of other
organizations such as Common Cause and CPPAX, will dedicate itself
over the next 16 months to bring as many voters as possible up to the
(1) level. Our options include media bombardment during the fall 2004
elections, court action on this new and unconstitutional law, and a
repeal referendum that will be on the 2004 ballot ... along with all
of Finneran’s "staff."
We hope you
will simplify all our lives and vote to sustain Governor Romney’s
veto.
