Executive Office for
Administration & Finance: The Executive Office for Administration and
Finance oversees the fiscal and administrative activities of the Executive Branch of state
government. The Executive Office ensures the financial stability of state government by
managing balanced operating and capital budgets.
Division of Local Services:
The
Division of Local Services is responsible for assisting Massachusetts' 351 cities and
towns in their efforts to achieve equitable property taxation and efficient fiscal
management. The DLS also monitors compliance with the Massachusetts General Laws regarding
municipal finance and ensures that all regulations and guidelines are followed.
Office of the State
Comptroller: The Annual Comprehensive Annual
Financial Report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 1999 (FY99) is prepared by the Office
of the Comptroller. This report is audited by a firm of Independent Certified Public
Accountants and is published annually in December. The publication of this report
represents the conclusion of financial activity and the final closing of the books in
accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) as defined for governments
by the Government Accounting Standards Board.
