Kerry Healey has signed the "No New Taxes" pledge. She signed it when she ran for state rep and was endorsed by CLT's 2½ PAC. When she got into the Lt. Governor's race just before the Republican convention, we added her old pledge to our web page where Jim Rappaport's already resided, in case convention delegates checked.

We figured it would be hard to reach her in all the last-minute confusion, and thought it only fair that delegates knew that both Lt. Gov. candidates supported the pledge. We were also a tad concerned that Mitt Romney's refusal to sign might influence her to recant, so we wanted to make sure her previous position was noted.

After the convention, Kerry Healey did reiterate her support by phone and we told her it was not necessary to sign the pledge again.

We are neutral in this race, since both candidates are friends and allies, and so we will also point out that we do not consider a toll at the New Hampshire border a tax. It may or may not be a good idea, all things considered, but a toll is not a tax, it's a toll.
