John A. MacMillan II
March 20, 1943 - August 4, 2012
We've lost one of our great activists over the
weekend, John MacMillan of Billerica.
John was there when I first became an activist in 1985, helping me
start up the first mandatory seat belt law repeal ballot committee
when I was a novice. John knew computers when I was just a rookie
feeling my way around.
John was there, helping to organize petition drives.
John helped pull off every one we did, successfully.
Back then, I'm told, John MacMillan was also active with Citizens
for Limited Taxation, with which I eventually merged my Freedom
First organization. John was always there, always.
Barbara and I recently visited him at the VA hospital in Bedford. I
had the honor of rolling him out in his wheelchair for a cigarette
in the outside smoking area. I had a feeling this might be the last
time I'd see him.
John passed away this past weekend.
Thank you, John, for all you did for us taxpayers and citizens. I
only wish you lived long enough to see the outcome of the upcoming
November elections.
Sandy, stay strong. You married a strong and committed man.
