NEWS ADVISORY
January 4, 2010

Revolution 2010 has begun

Before everybody gets into the habit of saying that incumbents aren't concerned because the Republicans don't have any candidates -- as many pundits said throughout the 2004 election when there were over 100 of them being mostly ignored by the media -- here is a preliminary list of those who are being supported so far by CLT's 2½ PAC.

Already, before the election year actually began, CLT's 2½ PAC has endorsed and sent early (2009) contributions to the following fifteen candidates, all of whom returned the CLT candidate questionnaire and took the Taxpayer Protection Pledge. Their hometown is next to candidate’s name for identification purposes. If the candidate is running against an incumbent, that person's 2009 CLT rating is posted.

HOUSE INCUMBENT / CLT RATING

Steve Adam, Orange Open seat
Paul Avella, Littleton Rep. Arciero (D-Westford) 33%
Nick Boldyga, Southwick Rep. Sandlin (D- Agawam) 20%
Geoff Diehl, Whitman Rep. McCarthy (D-E. Bridgewater) 07%
David Dunford, Orlean Rep. Peake (D-Provincetown) 07%
Patrick Foran, Dennis Rep. Turner (D-Dennis) Zero 0%
Kurt Hayes, Boxboro Rep. Benson (D-Lunenburg) 07%
Kevin Kuros, Uxbridge Rep. Kujawski (D-Webster) 33%
Steven Levy, Marlboro Rep. Gregoire (D-Marlboro) 07%
Brad Marston, Boston Rep. Walz (D-Boston) 07%
Greg Neffinger, West Springfield Rep. Welch (D-W. Springfield) 07%
Shaunna O’Connell, Taunton Rep. Fagan (D-Taunton) 14%
Brett Schetzsle, Beverly Open seat

SENATE INCUMBENT / CLT RATING

Sandi Martinez, Chelmsford Sen. Fargo (D-Lincoln) 10%
Ed McGrath, Framingham Sen. Spilka (D-Ashland) 21%

Note: Back for a second try are Avella, Boldyga, Hayes, Kuros, Levy, and Martinez, all of whom ran in 2008. CLT's 2½ PAC supported 23 challengers that year; we supported 56 of the challengers in 2004, when Gov. Romney was also actively supporting many good candidates.

In 2007, we sent out early endorsements/contributions to only two candidates. Clearly there are many more citizens willing to run this time than usual. More candidates will be added to our list as the election year progresses. CLT's 2½ PAC is looking for not only Republicans, but Independents, Libertarians, Tea Partyers, and of course pro-taxpayer Democrats to challenge incumbents in the primaries.

CLT's 2½ PAC will also be supporting pro-taxpayer incumbents who have high CLT legislative ratings.
