Massachusetts Tax Day Tea Parties
MASSACHUSETTS TAX DAY TEA PARTY WEBSITE
"State coordinators serve as liaisons between this national
effort and local events and not as the organizer for each individual event. If
you want to attend or volunteer for a listed event, contact the event
coordinator. If you want to organize a new event, contact the state coordinator
AND email teapartyinfo@gmail.com. Thanks!
"The following is a list of CONFIRMED Tea Party Tax Revolts planned within the
state of Massachusetts. Please note that we ONLY list events happening on April
15th."
Barbara Anderson's CLT Message
Dear activists and supporters:
Since
the nation fell down the rabbit hole a few months ago, we have been
watching people around the country, many of whom have not been
politically active before, trying to find a way to influence events.
This being April, many
taxpayers’ fancy turns to thoughts of tea parties. In Massachusetts, the
site of the original Boston Tea Party, throwing tea into the harbor is a
longstanding – and probably overdone (I’ve attended at least three
parties myself) – method of protest. But in other parts of the country,
activists are remembering their American history when creating events
for Tax Day, and overall it is wonderful to see.
CLT has been hearing from
various groups that are planning activities next Wednesday, and we have
been monitoring their plans to determine which local events are likely
to happen (since some are being run by political newcomers, organizers
are just learning about the need for permits in some venues, fees,
logistical problems).
So far CLT’s associate
director Chip Faulkner will attend and speak at three of these events.
He said:
"What
I'm planning at this point is to attend and speak at the Boston Tea
Party, then take the train back home. I'll head west to attend the
Worcester Tea Party in late afternoon and from there head up to
Lowell to speak at the Sandi Martinez Tea Party in Lowell around
6:30/7:00 PM."
As executive director of
our political action committee, Chip Faulkner will focus on the need to
regain control of our government through our new campaign, "No
Re-election for Tax Hikers." And because of his association with
Americans for Tax Reform,
he will talk about Grover Norquist’s "Leave Us Alone" coalition and the
"No New Taxes" pledge.
Other events presently
scheduled around Massachusetts are listed below:
